The amount of the construction makes the Greek camp look like a settlement that developed over the many years of the siege. To me, anyway.

Excellent point, Ms. Mary. I can see that camp starting as just a raider's camp at the start. Maybe it was further off while the Greeks raided the countryside, bringing in slaves to build the walls and cook the meals, like the Vikings that took a liking to Ireland and decided to build their villages on the coast, from which they can raid Wales, England, and the reset of Ireland.
